Most international students study in Australia on a full fee paying basis. There are, however, students undertaking postgraduate research in areas of particular concern to Australia who may apply for an Overseas Postgraduate Research Scholarships (OPRS). There are around 300 scholarships offered yearly to students from around the world Individual universities occasionally offer scholarships or research grants for outstanding students. Australian Government has an International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) scheme for postgraduate research students. Many Australian institutions offer their own scholarships. United Kingdom
UK universities are generally government funded which mostly means limited funds available for the university to disburse among students as bursaries and scholarships. Still most universities do have certain awards which are given to students based on their merits as well as performance during the course. Some of the UK universities also have special awards for Pakistani students besides the ones which individual departments may offer to students coming there to pursue their further studies. Another important source of scholarship are the British Government sponsored awards like the Chevening Scholarship Commonwealth Scholarship, DFID Scholarship. These are extremely competitive and the deadlines are much in advance of the session.

Institutional Scholarships can be categorized as;

United States of America
The Scholarships & the financial aid-fee waivers that are awarded to International Students are merit / need based. A candidate with strong academics, good performance on standardized exams & extra curricular achievements would be eligible for scholarship awards or any financial assistance. To benefit from these opportunities, one has to make sure to send all the required documents by particular deadlines. In addition to this, the presentation of the application package is also important because one is judged by the image one projects.
There are various types of Scholarships:
• Fellowship/ Scholarship: This is usually offered on the student's ability, competence & performance.
• Graduate Assistantship: Generally it may involve a teaching or research assistantship. Student who receive aid, do so in the form of assistantship i.e. cash stipend or a tuition fee waiver or reduced tuition fee.
